Uwe Grether is a Distinguished Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry at Roche, where he has spent more than 25 years advancing drug discovery programs from target identification through clinical development. An experienced medicinal chemist and scientific leader, he has led large multidisciplinary teams across a broad range of therapeutic areas, contributing to programs that have progressed to late-stage clinical development. Uwe’s research combines medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, and emerging AI-driven approaches to accelerate the discovery of innovative therapeutics. He is the author and inventor of more than 200 scientific publications, patents, and book chapters, and is widely recognized for fostering productive collaborations across academia and industry.
